TFA Using Hal900’s “Restructured” as a base. Changes that begin with a (-) are important changes that were already made to Hal's versions.
- The Main edit is that Starkiller Base does not fire until close to the end of the film. During the battle over Starkiller Base, the stakes are no longer protecting the Resistance base, but preventing the destruction of the Republic Capitol. Even though they destroy the First Order's superweapon, they fail to do so in time to save the day. (Thanks Hal9000)
• New intro music and SW logo reveal. No longer are we hit with the hard orchestra start, but classic SW themes fade in as we are slowly introduced to this new generation of heroes.
• New intro crawl: the intent here is to add backstory to Snoke to remove questions about his history. Also removing mention of Leia so her reveal will be more impactful rather than expected. Less overall exposition about the search for Luke here to allow the story to unfold on its own, to pay homage to the main movies, but also to feel like this series is about what’s next.
• Poe discussing the map with the village elder Lor San Tekka tightened, with Poe’s hand removed from the close up shot of Poe. Then we cut from the shots of BB-8 entering the hut to Poe seeing the transports through the binoculars.
• Removed a couple of Poe’s closeups after he leaves BB-8, so it now is random villagers fire that kills Finn’s mate.
• Tightened Kylo’s questioning of Lor San Tekka, before he mentions anything about Kylo’s parentage.
• Tightened Kylo questioning of Poe, removing any humor in this first interaction and to keep Kylo menacing and to keep Poe quiet until the massacre of the villagers.
- Removed the glow from Kylo Ren’s saber during a shot it is deactivated (borrowed from NeverarGreat’s Starlight project)*
• Removed Captain Phasma’s “fire” command so the stormtoopers fire directly after Kylo’s “Kill Them All” command.

- Subtle rendition of the first part of the Emperor’s Theme has been added to the Imperial March as we see Vader’s shattered helmet (thanks to Sir Ridley).

- Trimmed Maz’s journey across the table (borrowed from NeverarGreat’s Starlight project)
• Removed Maz calling out the dark side specifically when talking about the only fight, instead implying the facist regimes.
• Removed Finn’s lines to the guys heading to the outer rim, so it implies Rey interrupts after they have already established terms.
• Tightened Finn’s confession to Rey to reduce romantic affection.
• Rebuilt Rey’s Force vision to remove the knights of Ren, to add Palpatine’s voice, to add shots of the Sith throne, and hint toward the revelations within Episode IX.
- After Rey flees Maz's castle after her Force vision, replaced the Hosnian system being destroyed in the sky with a Star Destroyer. Finn and Han now gaze up to see that the First Order has caught up with them, as they feared. • Added a shot of the ship Finn is preparing to leave on, to imply Rey is planning to accompany him (borrowed from NeverarGreat’s Starlight project)*
- Throughout the battle at Maz’s castle, applied a slight sunset color correction to harmonize the sunset lighting present before and afterward. (Thanks Hal9000)

- New deleted scene included of Leia discussing the Republic. The scene was originally intended for earlier in the film, and Leia’s prominent braid has been removed to match her scenes immediately prior and after. - When Finn is introduced to Leia, removed mention of the Hosnian system's destruction, though retained mention that Finn had worked on the base (thanks to FX work by NeverarGreat).
- R2 now has a blinking light to indicate that he has begun searching for the map. (FX by NeverarGreat)
• Reduced Han and Leia’s discussion about Kylo.
• Added Ren’s line “Comfortable?” to Rey’s interrogation scene, removed the line by Kylo about him being able to do whatever he wants to Rey (rape implication feels too dark for this series).
- After Rey resists Kylo Ren's mind probe, added the portion of the Snoke scene from earlier where General Hux suggests using the weapon to destroy the Republic. Kylo Ren’s face has been overlaid where his mask was for one shot, and a few shots from behind have had the back of his head replace his hood. (FX by Jackpumpkinhead and krlozdac)
- Fixed two continuity errors introduced by the restructuring: Snoke is now seen rising from his seat in a new context rather than suddenly appearing upright, and his mouth no longer moves in a shot in which he is silent. (Thanks to NeverArGreat for the former.)

• Removed Finn introducing himself to Captain Phasma and saying he’s in charge, removed Finn verbally pressuring Captain Phasma to lower the shields.

- The blue Skywalker lightsaber is now portrayed throughout the film with a somewhat ‘cracked’ appearance similar to Kylo Ren’s in order to build on the conclusion to TLJ and reflect Rey’s inner conflict (visual FX by kewlfish, Luke Frik, and Movies Remastered)

• Edited down Rey’s training, removing Leia training her all altogether.

• Removed all of the Pasaana scenes including worm healing, Chewbacca fake death, Rey using lightning. Removed Kijimi scenes, including the C3PO’s memory storyline, Zorii storyline. We cut directly to the Falcon in hyperspace when Poe learns the landing gear is busted.
• Finn and Rey fixing the falcon is mixed with the scene of them fixing the hopper, re-edited Rey to say she only sees herself on the Sith Throne.
- The moon containing the wreckage of the second Death Star has been recontextualized as Endor, replacing what was Endor with an ice moon during the space establishing shot and moving the Ewok snippet up from the film’s climax. (Visual FX by poppasketti and snooker)
• Removed dagger element when scouting the crashed Death Star, removed mention of Babu Frik.

- Added two brief lines for Jannah to establish that her stormtrooper mutiny was inspired by Finn (AI lines provided by RogueLeader)
• Removed Finn and Jannah chasing Rey onto the Death Star
- Added a brief musical allusion to ‘Duel of the Fates’ during the duel on the Death Star using music from Maul’s scene in Solo (idea and help from Cinefy)
• Removed Rey stopping Kylo’s saber with the force. Instead he uses it when he begins to start beating Rey.
- Added a subtle vocalization as Leia drops her headphones (idea and clip from JarJar Bricks)
- Added a line for Leia during her final moments, saying “Come home” to Ben (AI voice provided by Jar Jar Bricks)*
- Extended the establishing shot of Kylo during the Han scene by a few seconds to slow the pace (thanks to Luka Frik and Octorox)
• Removed Palpatine ordering Kimiji’s destruction.
- Removed the destruction of Kijimi and the Resistance’s reaction. This helps us imagine the Final Order as an Imperial stockpile since it was the only glimpse into them before the First Order arrives to help. It avoids yet another planet destruction, and generally smooths things over. (Thanks Hal9000)
- Softened the stark sound effect slightly as Luke catches the lightsaber, since he is immaterial (Thanks Hal9000)
- Regraded Ach-To sequence to take place at night, concluding at dawn (grading and rotoscoping by NeverarGreat)
- Added an additional establishing shot breaking up the Rey on Ahch-to scenes so it doesn’t seem like she only spends a couple minutes on the island (modeled after DominicCobb’s clip) (Thanks Hal9000)

- Replaced the Imperial TIE Kylo took to Exegol with Vader’s TIE, because ANH had made a point to establish that TIEs don’t have hyperdrives. (Was originally an Imperial shuttle in V1; FX by poppasketti)
- Trimmed a moment when Ben seems to wait for the Knight to hit his saber (David_B idea)
- Added a small bit of score from ROTS as Palpatine absorbs the power of Rey and Ben’s friendship (Cinefy idea)
- Added a cacophony of voices to the appearance of the civilian fleet to the battle.
